We fund local nonprofits.

Historically, we awarded grants to vetted local nonprofits that focused on health, education, prevention and development, financial stability, basic needs, childhood trauma, community transformation, and building resilience.

In 2022, we awarded $280,000 to 36 local and regional community agencies supporting our community members. Meet our 2022 Community Impact Partners.

To apply for a Community Impact Grant, an applicant’s request must align with one or more of the four priority investment areas – health and safety, education, financial stability, and/or resilience – and must be a verifiable nonprofit with a volunteer governing body and have current financials, among other qualifications. Those organizations that have a fiscal sponsor that meets these requirements are also welcome to apply.

All proposals will be assessed on a competitive basis and applicants are not guaranteed to receive funding. The review process will use standard criteria, including applicant program’s alignment with goals outlined in the United Way of Central Oregon Community Impact Priorities.

Our Community Impact Committee, made up of volunteers representing all segments of our community, decides the grant funding awarded to the nonprofit applicants following a rigorous review of each proposal. They work together to review proposals, results, procedures, budgets, and finances. Following receipt of a grant, nonprofits submit reports to United Way throughout the funding cycle.

Community Impact Grant Guiding Principals

Transparency. To remain transparent and accountable to the community with respect to grant investments.

Equity Commitment. Directing our efforts and resources to where they will have the greatest impact for our community, especially for individuals identified as being part of our community’s most vulnerable and marginalized groups, and to prioritize response efforts that attend to racial and other inequities.

Supporting Community Agencies. To support nonprofit agencies as they build resilience in individuals, families, and our community, and as they adapt and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helping Individuals & Families. To help community members remain financially stable by supporting them through challenges such as housing instability and food insecurity.

It’s a credo. A mission. A goal. A constant reminder that when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. We build the strength of our neighborhoods. We bolster the health of our communities. And we change the lives of those who walk by us every day.
