At United Way of Central Oregon, we believe Central Oregon deserves a future where everyone can thrive.

We believe that every child deserves a safe and nurturing home, every family deserves the security of meeting their basic needs, and every neighbor deserves the chance to be strong and resilient.

Yet, here in Central Oregon, 1 in 3 households – about 30,000 families – are struggling every day to make ends meet and are living just one unexpected expense away from crisis.

And, that is why we exist: to mobilize the caring power of community, turning compassion into action.

We believe that when our neighbors thrive, our entire community thrives.

34 % of Central Oregonians don’t have enough income to cover their housing, childcare, food, transportation, healthcare, a smartphone, and taxes. We know this from a study of financial hardship that we do every year called ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).

We’re here because we believe that no child should go to bed hungry. And no family should wonder if they can make ends meet.

Here’s how we’re working together with our donors and partners to help Central Oregon thrive:

Through our programs, we are opening doors to opportunity through Ride United, providing emergency funding for families in crisis, delivering essential supplies to those struggling, helping to end family homelessness and keeping families in their homes. And, soon, we’ll be powering our laundry truck, moving our disaster work forward, and engaging in more housing stabilization work!

Every year, we launch a community campaign to raise funds used to address the most pertinent, unmet needs of individuals and families in our Central Oregon community. This campaign includes not only companies and corporate leaders, but also employees from businesses and nonprofits all over our region, and from community members.
